What a Grand Idea!

Citibank was the latest to cash in on the bailout craze this week by recieving $45 Billion from the government to cover bad loans that Citi handed out like candy over the years. Despite this fact, Citi still refuses to pull their sponsorship of the Mets new ballpark that opens up next April. These naming rights will cost Citi $400 million over the next 20 years (assuming Citi even makes it that far). Many people, including myself, see it a little messed up that Citi won’t drop the naming rights to save money. Two New York City council members agree with me as well. The two republicans (yes Republicans) are from Staten Island and want the ballpark to be renamed Citi/Taxpayer Field. I think this is a brilliant idea. If it was me I wouldn’t even have Citi in the name, I would just have “Taxpayer” written in the Citi font, and still make Citi pay for it. Greedy bastards.

  1. There should be restrictions PERIOD. This is what I don’t understand. Why can’t they do that? Why won’t they do that? Tax Payers are saving them from going under. They would not have a choice if there were stipulations on this money. How could they say NO if the government refused to give them the money?
